The most important element of this reading is wrapped up in the idea that writing is a process of writing and rewriting, but the thing that most surprised me was that there is criticism to the process model of writing. As an English student that had always been the model presented for me to use and to even teach, so the fact that there are people who contest this method is new information to me. While that does not change how I intend to approach the writing process, it does change how I see the how the process was studied and my understanding of it as a teacher. The fact that the writing process clearly seems to work, and gives students a little clearer understanding by what is meant when teachers mention prewriting and revision. The paper does a lot to increase my understanding of the process and the study of the writing process as a whole. While I knew before that the process was effective, I was unaware of how effect it was with students. In particular, as a teacher, I plan on having much more focus on the revision process than I did in my earlier attempts at teaching. Despite the fact that it is considered the most important part of the writing process, sometimes, it seems that students do not understand the necessity of it, but will rather submit their first draft of a project and believe that they have finished their paper. I hope, as a teacher, to encourage and teach more revision.
